Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Iron Mode in Genesis TD
Pick the kit before the first wave. You do not get a second identity.
Iron mode is the Kingdom Rush tradition of a locked defense. In Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD it is one of five listed modes, and it was already in the Steam demo. You choose towers (and, in Genesis, a two-hero pair plus spells) with far less freedom to pivot. A greedy Archer-only opener that works on Veteran will not survive an armored rush you cannot rebuild around.
This page is not Classic Mode. Classic is a 15th-anniversary rule that throws away extra towers and asks you to win with the original four. Iron asks you to commit to a plan. You can still own all 15 towers in the collection; you just cannot change your mind after the horn.
What Iron actually forbids
Exact sell/rebuild rules can shift with patches, so practice the spirit:
- Your tower identities are committed. Do not count on selling a catapult to buy a mage later.
- Gold still drops, but it upgrades the plan you already have.
- Heroes still die and respawn; they do not become a third building family.
- Spells are your only “surprise.” Save them.
If a YouTube Iron clear of Lozagon Tower sells a structure, copy the job (stall, anti-air, armor-break), not the click timing. The tower-level rework already changed how levels feel after the demo.
Build a legal Iron kit
Before the stage:
- Count paths and flying. If the map has flyers, Archer Garrison or Elven Elite Ranger is not optional.
- Count armor. Scholar Mage or a later magic specialist must exist in the kit.
- Count clumps. Royal Catapult or Dwarven Culverin needs a shared kill box.
- Count stall. Knights Order or Ironbark Treant holds the door while artillery winds up.
- Pick two heroes with different failure modes. Gerald plus Zefira is the demo default because one soaks and one deletes. Two roaming mages is a leak waiting to happen. See the two-hero system.
A balanced Iron kit on a two-path map is often: anti-air, stall, magic, artillery, plus one specialist. Five names, five jobs. The tower tier list is a priority list, not a permission slip to bring four variants of the same job.
Hero and spell rules in Iron
Heroes are your only moving pieces. If both are down, Iron maps punish you harder because you cannot drop a new barracks family. Stagger deaths. Pull Gerald before the last hit. Park Zefira off the boss slam.
Spell loadout is a fourth job:
- Reinforcements replace a dead stall.
- Rain of Fire replaces the artillery you were not allowed to add.
- Royal Edict replaces the hero burst you lost to respawn.
Read the spell tier list with Iron in mind: flexibility beats raw damage.
Lozagon Tower as a case study
Community Iron videos of Lozagon Tower are short because the map does not let you ramble. The Archwizard set-piece (Nivus) plus tight geometry means your first two build spots decide the run. If your opening pair of towers cannot cover both a ground clump and a flying scout, restart. Restarting is cheaper than “fixing” an illegal kit.
Use the campaign stages page for the map’s role in the 18-stage campaign, then come back here for the constraint.
Iron versus Veteran versus Classic versus Blitz
- Veteran: rebuild freely, learn the lane.
- Iron: same lane, committed kit.
- Classic: original four towers only, nostalgia and discipline. Classic Mode is the article.
- Blitz: short, dense, little economy time.
- Spells Rush: no heroes, spells and towers only.
People fail Iron because they play it like Veteran with ego. People fail Classic because they play it like Iron with extra towers they do not actually have.
Practice plan before 24 September 2026
- Three-star a map on Veteran using only five tower names. If you had to sell into a sixth identity, your Iron kit is a lie.
- Repeat with Gerald/Zefira split, never stacked.
- Repeat with Rain of Fire unused until the last third of the stage.
- Then toggle Iron.
The upgrade planner still matters: global star columns buff the families you committed to. Do not dump stars into a family you will not bring.
Iron is the mode that makes the rest of the wiki useful. If every tower is legal at every moment, tier lists are trivia. If the kit is frozen, the hero roster and the four jobs above are the whole game.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD questions.
Is Iron mode in the full Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD?
Yes. Ironhide listed Iron as one of five modes and included it in the Steam demo.
Can I change towers mid-stage in Iron?
Treat identities as locked. Upgrade what you brought. Do not plan a Veteran-style sell into a new family.
Is Iron the same as Classic Mode?
No. Iron locks a plan you choose. Classic limits you to the original four towers for the 15th anniversary.
