Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Ignus the Flame Prodigy in Genesis TD
Fire mage rover. Before he was an elemental, he was just a very dedicated pyromaniac.
Ignus is confirmed for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD. Ironhide’s Devlog #25 (29 August 2026), “Let it burn!” is the official introduction. He is a magic Rover hero: you send him forward, he burns everything near where he lands, then you pull him back before the respawn timer eats your three-star run.
Play him as a fire mage rover, not as a frontline anchor. If you drop him on a choke and wait, his body blocks archers and his cooldowns reset on respawn. The two-hero system explains why rovers go forward and anchors hold gates. Ignus is a rover.
What Ironhide actually wrote
Devlog #25 is titled “Let it burn!” and opens with the premise: dominion of fire magic is not easy to achieve, and it is dangerously unstable. Ignus was not deterred. He devoted himself to mastering fire until he became the very avatar of flame.
The practical summary is that before Ignus was the fire elemental known in later Kingdom Rush timeline games, he was a human mage who simply refused to stop burning. The hero roster has the full twelve-name panel; Ignus is one of the confirmed fire-adjacent portraits alongside Drakkan (Arcane Dragon, flying) and Ashbite (also dragon family).
Skills
The Fandom wiki lists six confirmed abilities for Ignus:
- Fireball - ranged fire projectile, likely his baseline attack.
- Heat Wave - area denial around his position.
- Flame Rush - dash forward, dealing damage along the path.
- Melting Core - damage amplifier or armor strip.
- Reverse Entropy - some kind of sustain or counter-damage mechanic.
- Supernova - likely the ultimate; high-cost, wide area.
These are confirmed from the Fandom wiki listing. Exact cooldown, damage, and targeting details ship with the 24 September 2026 build. This wiki will not invent numbers.
How he plays
Fire mage rovers work best on:
- Multi-path maps where one lane needs sustained damage and the other needs a body. Ignus handles the lane; Gerald handles the door.
- Elite hunting - a Flame Rush into a clump of tough enemies, then pull before they respawn.
- Flying waves - Fireball or Heat Wave can reach aerial units that barracks cannot.
Pairs that make sense:
- Gerald + Ignus - anchor holds the choke, rover burns the lane. Standard split-map play.
- Zefira + Ignus - two magic rovers. High damage output but both die to heavy armor if you do not bring a barracks.
- Ignus + Oni - fire plus melee. Both go forward; neither holds a door. Only works if Knights Order already covers the choke.
See the hero tier list for letter grades after launch. Devlog lore is not a tier.
Modes
Iron mode - lock him when the preview shows flying units or armored clumps his Fireball can reach. You cannot swap mid-stage.
Classic Mode - one hero. Ignus as the singleton is a damage brag. Gerald is still the safer anchor.
Spells Rush bans heroes. The spell tier list has to fake the fire mage with Rain of Fire.
Roster context
The Heroes panel shows twelve portraits. Ignus is confirmed alongside Gerald, Zefira, Malik, Drakkan, Ashbite, Oni, and Bolin Farslayer. Full list: hero roster. Steam includes the roster; mobile may IAP extra unlocks.
Double XP for behind-heroes, added in Devlog #28, means Ignus catches up quickly if you level a primary hero first.
What not to believe
- He is not free. Genesis is premium. See rewards.
- He is not a second Gerald. He does not hold doors. He burns what is in front of him and repositions.
- He does not replace Getting Started. You still need archers and barracks before fire mages.
When the September build drops, check his upgrade tree, then pair him accordingly. The job is “fire rover,” not “fire anchor.”
