Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Drakkan the Arcane Dragon

Flying Rover. An ancient dragon who chose Linirea over the sky.

Drakkan

Drakkan is confirmed for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD. Ironhide’s Devlog #13, “A Dragon’s Resolve,” is the official introduction. He is an Arcane Dragon: a flying hero who ignores terrain obstacles, crosses disconnected paths, and provides aerial damage on maps where ground-based heroes cannot reach. In the Heroes panel he appears as a dragon silhouette among the twelve portraits, confirming he fills the flying Rover slot alongside Ashbite in the dragon family.

Play him as a flying Rover, not as a ground anchor. If you drop him on the same choke as Gerald, you have stacked jobs and wasted his terrain ignore. The two-hero system explains why rovers go forward and anchors hold gates. Drakkan is a rover who happens to fly.

What Ironhide actually wrote

Devlog #13 is titled “A Dragon’s Resolve” and opens with the premise: an ancient Arcane Dragon, master of the skies, chooses to fight for Linirea. The lore frames Drakkan as a being of immense power who could remain above the conflict but instead descends to fight alongside the kingdom’s champions. This is the narrative hook: not a soldier who became a dragon, but a dragon who became a soldier.

The practical summary is that Drakkan fills a role no ground unit can: he flies over walls, pits, rivers, and disconnected path segments. On maps where the enemy route splits and reunites, Drakkan can cross the gap while your Anchor holds one side. On maps with aerial enemies, he reaches targets that barracks and archers cannot. The hero roster confirms him as one of two dragons in the twelve-hero panel, with the job description “flying Rover for disconnected paths.”

Role and positioning

Drakkan’s core value is terrain ignore. Every other hero in the roster — Gerald, Zefira, Malik, Ignus, Oni — walks the dirt and follows the path. Drakkan does not. He flies directly to targets.

This matters on:

  • Split-path maps where one lane needs coverage and the path does not reconnect in time for your Anchor to walk there. Drakkan bridges the gap.
  • Aerial enemy waves that barracks cannot hit. If Ironhide ships flying enemies (they always do), a flying hero is the reliable answer.
  • Stage hazards like pits, rivers, or destructible bridges. Ground heroes fall in; Drakkan does not.
  • Speed priority — a dragon crossing a split is faster than any foot soldier repositioning.

The risk is that flying units can overshoot. If you send Drakkan into fog chasing a runner, he may not return to the critical choke before the leak reaches the exit. The beginner guide covers why rovers die to greed; Drakkan is not exempt.

Pairs

  • Gerald + Drakkan — Anchor holds the door, dragon covers the split. Classic split-map play where the terrain gap is too wide for a foot Rover.
  • Drakkan + Zefira — two Rovers. Works if Knights Order covers both chokes and you need aerial + magical coverage on separate lanes.
  • Drakkan + Malik — dragon plus hammer. Both are high-impact units; the question is whether you have enough tower coverage on the doors.
  • Drakkan + flying dragon (Ashbite) — two flyers. Only on maps where both paths have aerial threats and both ground anchors are already covered by towers.

See the hero tier list for letter grades after launch. The job (flying Rover) is confirmed; the numbers are not.

Modes

Iron mode locks the pair before stage start. If your locked towers cannot hit aerial enemies, Drakkan is the answer. If your locked towers include a Sorcerer Mage pad and the stage has no flying units, a ground Rover may be better value.

Classic Mode allows only one hero. Drakkan as the singleton is a terrain-ignore answer looking for the right question. If the map has no split, no aerial enemies, and no hazards, Gerald is still the safer anchor.

Spells Rush bans heroes. The spell tier list has to fake the flying answer with Teleport or Rain of Fire.

Roster context

The Heroes panel shows twelve portraits. Drakkan is confirmed alongside Gerald, Zefira, Malik, Ignus, Ashbite, Oni, and Bolin Farslayer. He and Ashbite form the dragon pair: one Arcane Dragon (Drakkan), one fire dragon (Ashbite). Full list: hero roster.

The dragon family represents the flying archetype in the roster. Where Gerald is the anchor template and Zefira is the mage Rover template, Drakkan is the flying Rover template — terrain ignore, aerial targeting, split-map coverage.

What not to believe

  • He is not a ground anchor. If you need someone on the door, use Gerald or Malik. Drakkan does not hold chokes the same way.
  • He is not immune to respawn. Flying does not make him immortal. He still dies to boss bursts and boss phases.
  • He is not free. Genesis is premium. See rewards.
  • He does not replace the getting started economy. Archers and barracks still pay the bills; Drakkan fills the gaps they cannot reach.

When the September build drops, check his skill tree for aerial damage modifiers and split-path abilities. The job is “flying Rover,” not “flying tank.” Pair him accordingly, and let him do what dragons do best: ignore the ground entirely.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD questions.

Is Drakkan in Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD?

Yes. Devlog #13 on 13 June 2025 confirms he is an Arcane Dragon and part of the twelve-hero roster as a flying Rover.

What makes Drakkan different from other heroes?

He flies. This lets him cross disconnected paths, ignore terrain obstacles like walls and rivers, and reach aerial enemies that ground-based towers cannot hit.

Should I pair Drakkan with Gerald?

Yes, on split-path maps where Gerald holds one door and Drakkan covers the other lane from the air. On single-choke maps, a ground Rover like Zefira may be more reliable.
