Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Bolin Farslayer

Ranged physical specialist. The archer who does not need a tower to put arrows where it hurts.

Bolin Farslayer

Bolin Farslayer is confirmed for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD. He appears in the twelve-hero roster as a ranged physical hero — a portrait with a bow, positioned away from the melee cluster, built for precision strikes rather than crowd control. He is not a mage. He does not burn or freeze. He puts one arrow exactly where it needs to go, then repositions before the respawn timer costs you a star.

Play him as a ranged Rover. If you park him beside Gerald on the choke, you have wasted his range advantage. The two-hero system explains why rovers push lanes and anchors hold gates. Bolin is a rover who happens to be physical instead of magical — the Farslayer name is not decoration.

Who he is

The roster panel does not give Bolin a Devlog post yet. What the art shows is a focused archer figure, clearly trained for precision rather than volume. “Farslayer” implies more than standard archer behavior — this is a title earned, not a job description. The pose suggests a hunter who learned to shoot before they learned to fight.

The practical context: Genesis TD has four hero archetypes by launch-window observation:

  • Anchor — melee, holds the door. Gerald is the tutorial Anchor.
  • Rover (magic) — Zefira, Ignus. Burst and reposition.
  • Rover (flying) — Drakkan. Independent lane coverage.
  • Breaker — Oni. High-risk melee delete.

Bolin slots into a fifth slot: Rover (ranged physical). He does what Archer Garrison does but mobile, with a personal upgrade tree, and the ability to reposition when the target moves.

How he probably plays

Until the panel tooltips ship with the 24 September 2026 build, rank the job:

  • Range advantage — likely longer effective range than mage rovers. Physical damage ignores magic resist.
  • Precision over volume — fewer, harder hits. Not a spray-and-pray build.
  • Repositioning — same respawn timer mechanic as other rovers. Send him forward, pull him back.
  • Anti-armor utility — physical damage beats armored targets that magic rovers struggle with.

Pairs that make sense on paper:

  • Gerald + Bolin — anchor holds the choke, rover covers the split with ranged pressure. The standard split-map pairing.
  • Zefira + Bolin — two rovers, different damage types. High flexibility; need barracks to cover the door.
  • Bolin + flying dragon — ranged physical plus flying magic. Who holds the door? Knights Order, hopefully.
  • Bolin + Oni — ranged physical plus melee breaker. Niche on maps where you need both a lane clearer and a boss delete.

See the hero tier list for letters after launch. Roster position is not a tier.

Modes

Iron mode — lock him when the preview shows armored elites or a split map where ranged pressure on the secondary lane matters. You cannot swap mid-stage.

Classic Modeone hero. Bolin as the singleton is a precision play. Gerald is still the safer anchor for players still learning lane discipline.

Spells Rush bans heroes. The spell tier list has to fake the ranged physical with Archer Garrison and Rain of Fire.

Roster context

The Heroes panel shows twelve portraits. Bolin is confirmed alongside Gerald, Zefira, Malik, Ignus, Drakkan, Ashbite, and Oni. Full list: hero roster. Steam includes the roster; mobile may IAP extra unlocks.

Double XP for behind-heroes, added in Devlog #28, means Bolin catches up quickly if you level a primary hero first. The physical damage type is distinct enough that building him as a secondary makes tactical sense regardless of which magic rovers you favor.

What not to believe

  • He is not free. Genesis is premium. See rewards.
  • He is not a tower replacement. Archer Garrison is still the economy engine. Bolin is mobile pressure, not a static pad.
  • He is not the same as a mage rover. Magic and physical damage behave differently against armor and resist. Do not substitute one for the other without reading the enemy composition.
  • He does not replace Getting Started. Archers and barracks pay the bills; Bolin handles the problems those towers cannot reach.

When the September build drops, check his upgrade tree for range extensions and physical damage nodes. Until then, the job is “precision physical rover, not a second Archer Garrison.”

Map notes

  • Split-path maps — send Gerald to the door, Bolin to the secondary lane. His range keeps pressure on the path while he repositions.
  • Single-choke maps — Gerald holds the door. Bolin can roam the backline for stragglers and casters.
  • Flying-heavy maps — Archer Garrison covers anti-air. Bolin handles priority targets the archer tower reaches slowly.
  • Boss lanes — physical damage against armor is where Bolin earns his slot. If the boss has high magic resist, mage rovers underperform and Bolin does not.

Read the campaign stages page to learn which maps have geometry that rewards a ranged rover.

Summary

Bolin Farslayer is the ranged physical option in the twelve-hero roster. He is not a mage, not a melee, and not a tower. He is a precision archer who moves, shoots what needs to die, and repositions before the respawn timer ruins your run. Pair him with an anchor, not another rover unless barracks covers the door. When the upgrade tree drops, look for range and physical damage nodes first.

The full roster is on the hero roster page. The two-hero pairing rule is on the two-hero system page. Tier letters come after the 24 September build.
