Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Two Heroes Per Stage

One holds the choke. One patrols the leak. Both dead is a failed plan.

Two-Hero System

Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD fields two heroes on every stage out of a twelve-hero roster. That is the mechanical headline of the prequel. Older games asked you to babysit one champion. Genesis asks you to run a pair with different failure modes, then retune their personal upgrade trees between maps.

The in-game Heroes panel shows two equipped portraits on the left and the rest of the twelve across the top. Gerald Lightseeker is the default melee face; Zefira is the battlemage beside him. The rest of the art includes returning Linirean names Ironhide has already logged in Friday devlogs — Malik, Ignus, Drakkan, Ashbite, Oni, Bolin, and others — listed on the hero roster.

The only pairing rule that matters

Do not stack both heroes on the same flag unless a boss slam requires a burst window.

  • Anchor — usually melee. Stands on the choke with Knights Order. Gerald is the tutorial Anchor.
  • Rover — usually ranged, magic, or flying. Walks the split, deletes the runner, peels the backline caster. Zefira is the tutorial Rover.

If both portraits are in the same bush, you are playing one-hero Kingdom Rush with extra HP. The second path will leak. This is also why the beginner guide tells you to split from wave one.

Micro without burning out

PC: click the portrait or the model, click the path. Mobile: tap-to-move. Rally flags still belong to barracks; heroes are not barracks, even when Gerald feels like one. Full input notes live on Controls.

Practical habits:

  1. Name the jobs out loud once: “Gerald door, Zefira east.”
  2. After every flying wave, glance at the Rover. Rovers chase kills into fog.
  3. Pull the Anchor at half HP if the next wave is a boss. Dual respawn is how Iron runs die.
  4. Do not send the Rover to “help” the Anchor unless the Anchor is actually about to drop.

Heroes ignore some instant-kill trash (series tradition) but bosses and hazards do not care about your nostalgia. Treat death timers as a spell you did not choose to cast.

Upgrade trees are per hero now

Genesis gives each hero a personal tree, plus the global star board. That means Gerald’s shield line and Zefira’s close-range burst do not steal the same node. It also means you can retune between stages: more armor on a wall map, more burst on a split map. The upgrade planner covers the four-column global board; hero nodes stay on the Heroes panel (the wooden sheet with Equip and Upgrade).

Do not max a Rover’s vanity skill while the Anchor still dies to the first armored wave. Spend the first levels on “stay alive” for the Anchor and “delete the runner” for the Rover.

Pairing examples that do not require leaks

  • Gerald + Zefira — demo default. Melee + battlemage. Works on Citadel and Silveroak. See Gerald Lightseeker and Zefira.
  • Gerald + flying/dragon portrait — Anchor stays, Rover ignores terrain. Useful when paths disconnect.
  • Two melee — only if the map is a single choke and you need overlapping stall. Most Genesis maps are not that kind.
  • Two squishies — a meme. Knights Order cannot be your only tank forever.

Rank pairs on the hero tier list after you name the map. A dragon that looks S-tier on a forest split can be wasted on a tiny choke that only wants Gerald.

Spells cover the pair, they do not replace it

Reinforcements is what you press when the Anchor is down. Rain of Fire is what you press when the Rover cannot be in two places. Royal Edict is the boss window. If you use all three because you stacked the pair, the spell tier list cannot save you.

Iron and Classic change the pair

In Iron mode the pair is part of the locked plan. You will not swap Zefira for a dragon mid-stage. In Classic Mode the pair goes away: original four towers, original-style spells, one hero. Practice the pair on Veteran so Classic’s singleton feels like a diet, not a shock.

Launch-week drill

Until 24 September 2026, the drill is mental: pick Anchor/Rover before the map loads, never stack, stagger deaths, retune trees between nodes. When the full twelve are clickable, the jobs do not change — only the costumes do.
