Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Oni in Genesis TD

A red warrior from a kingdom that no longer sits on any trustworthy map.

Last updated:

Oni

Oni is confirmed for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD. Ironhide’s Devlog #27 (4 September 2026), “To Hell and Back,” is the official introduction. He is not a rumor portrait. He is a fieldable champion in the twelve-hero roster, built as a high-risk melee with burning blades.

Play him as a breaker, not as a second Gerald. If you stack two melee portraits on one flag, the other lane still leaks. Read the two-hero system before you treat Oni as a cosmetic.

What Ironhide actually wrote

Veteran players recognize him in half a second: towering red warrior, burning blades, a name demon armies learned to say quietly. The easy sentence in the devlog is that Oni is joining the ranks. The hard sentence is that nobody actually knows where he came from.

The stories agree on this much:

  • He was an honorable warrior. His katanas were sworn to a kingdom.
  • He was the best at what he did.
  • Everything after that is blurry. The kingdom itself no longer appears on any map worth trusting.

Some stories say that in his last breath he condemned his own soul for the power to inhabit the Pit of Fire and hunt demons for eternity. The obsession kept him down there for centuries. Then he heard those same demons speaking of a powerful wizard making a deal with their overlord Moloch. That was enough to pause the hunt. He climbed into Linirea to fight for a kingdom that still had everything to lose, and to keep demonic forces off the surface.

“Rip and tear, until it is done” is the sign-off. Treat it as flavor, not a skill name. Exact abilities will be on the in-game Heroes panel after 24 September 2026. This wiki will not invent katana combo names.

How he probably plays

Until the panel tooltips ship, rank the job:

  • Melee, high threat, likely poor at babysitting a door for twenty waves.
  • A Rover-shaped melee: you send him at a clump or a demon-looking elite, then pull him before the respawn timer eats your three-star.
  • Do not replace Gerald Lightseeker with Oni on a two-path map unless Knights Order already holds the choke.

Pairs that make sense on paper:

  • Gerald + Oni — only on a single choke with extra stall. Most campaign stages are not that.
  • Zefira + Oni — magic Rover plus melee breaker. Gerald is missing, so barracks must be honest.
  • Oni + flying dragon — two tourists. Who is the door?

See the hero tier list for letters. Oni sits in the situational band until launch-week clears exist. Devlog lore is not a damage table.

Modes

Iron mode — lock him only if the preview shows the kind of elite he is built to delete. You cannot swap him out mid-stage.

Classic Modeone hero. Oni as the singleton is a brag. Gerald is still the safer door.

Spells Rush bans heroes. The spell list has to fake the breaker with Rain of Fire and Royal Edict.

Roster context

The Heroes panel shows twelve portraits. Oni is one of the confirmed names alongside Gerald, Zefira, Malik, Ignus, Drakkan, Ashbite, and Bolin Farslayer. Full list: hero roster. Steam’s premium pitch includes the roster; mobile may IAP extra unlocks.

Double XP for behind-heroes, added in Devlog #28, makes trying Oni cheaper than the demo pairing rule suggested. You can level Gerald first, then let Oni catch up.

What not to believe

  • He is not a free daily login. Genesis is premium. See rewards.
  • He is not a multiplayer partner. The game is single-player. No second player can join a stage.
  • He is not a reason to skip Getting Started. Archers still pay the bills.

When the September build unlocks his tree, come back and add nodes. Until then, the job is “expensive blade, not a barracks.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD questions.

Is Oni in Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD?

Yes. Devlog #27 on 4 September 2026 confirms he is joining the twelve-hero roster.

Should I replace Gerald with Oni?

Not on split maps. Gerald holds the door. Oni is a breaker. Pair them only if stall is already covered.

Where does Oni come from?

Ironhide says nobody actually knows. The stories point at a lost kingdom, the Pit of Fire, and a hunt that paused when Moloch's name came up.
