Demo Recap

The Steam demo for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD was the public test of dual heroes, the new upgrade trees, and Ironhide’s 15-tower direction. It opened with Next Fest energy, pulled tens of thousands of generals on day one, hit Steam’s most-played demo lists, got extended after wishlist goals, and then received a farewell post when the experiment was over. This page is the news version; the tactical version is the demo walkthrough.

Timeline

  • June 2026: demo, trailer, 24 September launch date, mobile pre-order. Ironhide reported a huge day-one rush.
  • Next Fest recap: Genesis landed in the top played demos.
  • Extension: two extra stages, extra modes (Blitz, Spells Rush among them), one extra tower, extra days on the clock after 100k-wishlist style rewards.
  • Farewell: “Saying Goodbye to the Kingdom Rush Genesis Demo” — the slice closed; the campaign did not.

If a friend still has the installer, treat it as a memory stick, not as a live server. Campaign progress questions (“does the save carry?”) were already being asked; until a launch patch note says otherwise, assume a fresh start on 24 September 2026.

What the slice proved

  • Two heroes is the real hook. Gerald and Zefira were enough to teach it. See two-hero.
  • Iron belongs in the mode list, not as DLC.
  • Players will argue about UI color and tower levels. Ironhide listened: Devlog #28 is the rework note.
  • Western Wall is a star map. The 80k-wishlist video is official footage, which is why this page embeds it.

Mixed reviews, useful complaints

Steam’s demo reviews sat around 60% positive on several hundred posts. That is not a death sentence; it is a list of HUD and progression gripes. The tower tier list already warns you not to copy June sell timings after the level rework. The launch page warns you not to treat demo score as full-game score.

Useful complaints:

  • UI too loud or too blue (later “bye bye blue UI” posting).
  • Tower-level system needed a pass.
  • Dual-hero micro on a pad is clumsy — controls agree; use a mouse.

Useless complaints:

  • “It is Kingdom Rush.” Yes. That is the product.
  • Fake comparison to Roblox TD clones. This is Ironhide’s mainline sixth numbered game.

What launch still owes you

The remaining 12 of 18 stages, 10 of 12 heroes as playable field units, 6 of 9 spells, extra modes including Classic, and whatever the tower-level rework feels like in a full campaign. The demo was homework. Do not confuse a six-stage slice with the 200k-wishlist world map.

If you only remember three things from the demo, remember: split the heroes, keep Rain of Fire, and do not sell your only mage. Then go to Getting Started and wait for the store to flip.

What the extension actually added

Ironhide’s own words: two extra stages, extra modes, one extra tower, extra days on the clock. That is how Lozagon Tower and Iron-challenge videos entered the public record. It is also how Blitz and Spells Rush stopped being rumors. If you only played the first weekend, you missed half the homework. The demo walkthrough assumes the extended slice.

Wishlist rewards around that window (80k Western Wall footage, later the 200k world map) were marketing with a useful side effect: we have official video and a full painted continent. This page embeds the Wall footage because it is Ironhide’s camera, not a random streamer overlay.

Carryover myths

  • Demo stars will not secretly fill your launch board unless a patch note says so.
  • Demo-only towers do not stay locked on Steam’s premium pitch.
  • A mixed demo score does not mean the launch build is the same binary.
  • YouTube DPS from June is not a tower-level gospel after the rework.

Play the September campaign as a new file. Bring the habits, not the save.

For people who never installed it

You are not behind. The demo taught two heroes, four jobs, three spells, and Iron. Those sentences are also the beginner guide. Watch the embed, then go place towers. Linirea does not grade you on Next Fest attendance.
